Make Plans to enjoy Summer fun at Ski Lookout Pass. Enjoy a Scenic Chairlift Ride to the summit, where you can pick delicious Huckleberries. All picking must be done by hand – No Rakes Allowed as they damage the bushes!

We offer scenic chairlift rides up and for those who want to go back down or take a leisurely hike down. Enjoy huckleberry picking adventures with the lift providing easy access to our summit’s vast huckleberry fields. You can even choose to enjoy a family-friendly hike this summer after riding up our Peak 1 Quad Chairlift. The lift whisks riders up to the 5,650 ft summit of the Peak 1 Quad at Ski Lookout Pass. This is not our highest peak, but it is the top of the front side chairlift!.

Ride up the lift to enjoy the awesome views of the fabled Bitterroot Mountains and specifically the St. Regis peaks and basin. You’ll reach a top elevation of 5,650 ft on this ride. Look North toward the Murry Gold Fields on your trip back down the lift, or enjoy hiking down our network of wooded trails and work roads. A leisurely hike down the mountain takes most guests about 40 minutes to an hour, or just hike around the summit, pick huckleberries in season there, and then ride back down – your choice.

Lookout Pass winter 2026-27 Season Pass holders can simply show their pass at our Season Pass office to receive a FREE Scenic Chairlift ride ticket when the lift is running. If you have already paid for your Season Pass, you can pick it up and start using it to enjoy these rides.

We have family-friendly hiking trails for you to explore. We have developed five trails through the woods!

Our front-side lift is an American-made, SkyTrac Quad Chairlift. It will transport those interested in a Scenic Lift Ride, Hiking, or a Summit Lunch, or to pick Huckleberries.

Dates and times for scenic chairlift rides with opportunities to pick huckleberries will be determined as we get closer to summer 2026: https://www.ridethehiawatha.com/events

Scenic lift rides with Hiking and the opportunity for you to enjoy a mountain top scenic lunch.

The chairlift operates from 10 am to 3 pm (PST). (Top ramp in summer is not ADA compliant – Summit ramp is steep with soft dirt and no steps or handrails). Any guests needing assistance should ask the bottom lift attendant prior to boarding. He will pass along the message for assistance to the top attendant. Guests can hike around the summit before heading back down.
